About Elise

My name is Elise and I am an Early Childhood Education major at Georgia Southern. I love children, and taught early preschool (2 and three year old children) for four years in my hometown. I am currently a curriculum student observing Sallie Zetterower Elementary. My clinical observer, Mr. Chis Bowen, has great control of his classroom. I cannot wait to continue to observe his classroom!

  1. Hey Elise! Just curious as to what grade you were placed in at Sallie Z? I have heard great things about the school, never been, but perhaps I will soon. It's neat that you had the opportunity to work with children in your hometown, you sort of know what to expect. You must really have patients with small children to have taught such a young age for so long. Well good luck this semester:)

  2. Hi Elise.

I bet working with a male elementary teacher is a change. However, I think that change is good. It's great that men have a desire to work with younger children. To me, the elementary years are the most crucial part of the students life. I think that children are impacted most by their elementary school teachers. I know that I was. I can still name all of my teachers in elementary school. Hope you have a great time in his classroom.

  3. The fact that you were able to work with children for as long as you did in previous years must have really been helpful when making the decision to be an Early Childhood Ed. major. Sometimes I get worried that I won't be cut out to be a teacher because I haven't had the chance to work with children like you did but I think i'm sure i'll love it. Also, I have never had the chance to observe a male teacher while in the program but that is something I would love to do. I have had male teachers but I would like to observe male elementary teachers to see if there is any difference in how the kids react to them versus females.

  4. Hi Elise! You must have a wonderful heart filled with love and patience to be able to work in a pre-school for so long! I know you simply fell in love with some of those kids, if not all of them! It must have killed you to leave! My boyfriends mom teaches at a preschool in my hometown, and I simply love them when they are that age! Hope you have a wonderful semester! See you in class:)

  5. Elise it's wonderful to know taht you cam in to curriculum with four years of expierence, and still decided to continue in this field. I really do not know much about the school that you are observing at, but I see that you are enjoying every minute of it. With that attitude I know things will only get better. Well I wish you the best in your future, and hold on to ALl of your dreams.

  6. Hey Elise! How is working with a man? I always wonder if it is different and if the children act different for them than for a woman. I would think that they would only because children sometimes take authority better from a man. I wish it wasn't like that because children should respect any authority. Wow, that was a tangent, okay well good luck this semester!

  7. Hey! I heard your clinical supervisor is great! I have been lucky to have two very wonderful clinical supervisors as well. I have been placed in both second and third grade classrooms and I love them both. I am nervous about getting placed in fourth or fifth grade though but maybe it won't be too bad. See you in class:)!

  8. I bet teaching two and three year old children in your hometown was a workout. I am sure that it was fun also. I am sure that you came home with a funny story every day. I love being around young children. It is so neat to see them learn and grow. You would not think it but children at these ages will teach you things about yourself, while testing your patience.

  10. I've never seen a male teacher in any elementary school. It would be nice to have more of them teaching just to see how they handled the classroom. Some teachers tend to be so uptight and always yelling and stressing. I think a male teacher would handle that differently.
